Perfect DIY Teacher Gift
My son just finished up his school year and I was beyond thankful for the wonderful year he had with his teacher (in the classroom and learning remotely). As a former teacher I know all of the extra hours in a regular school year that a teacher puts in. This year, teachers were suddenly thrown into a whole new side of teaching that was unexpected and some had to do it while also helping their own children as well. Personally, I can't thank my son's teacher enough for all she did in and out of the classroom. So, when it came time to drop off materials and pick up his items I wanted to be sure to give her a little something to show my gratitude. I came up with this super easy DIY teacher gift and it came out so cute I just had to share.
Below check out the materials needed and easy directions to create this adorable teacher gift.
Materials Needed:
- Mason Jar with Lid
- A few pieces of raffia
- Cookies
- Gift card (teachers LOVE gift cards!)
- Gift bag with tissue paper
Making the Perfect Teacher Gift:
Fill mason jar with cookies...
For my gift I always prefer to give home baked cookies, so I made a batch of my Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies. You could add any kind you like, even store bought, it is the thought that counts! Put the lid on tight once you've filled the jar.

Attach gift card and tie raffia in bow...
Take a few pieces of raffia and wrap them around the jar, just below the lid. String one of the thicker pieces of raffia through a hole on the gift card paper. Then tie all of the raffia in a knot to hold it in place.
Next tie the raffia into a bow. Sometimes I need to tie it a couple of times and adjust it to get all of the pieces in the bow and for it to look the way I like. Trim long ends off the raffia.
Wrap it up!
This gift does not necessarily need to be wrapped up. I decided to do it so that we could easily leave it for the teacher and it she could carry it.
To wrap it up simply place the jar in a little tissue paper and stick it in a gift bag. Then add a nice card, or even better a handmade drawing or card from your kid!
Have fun making this easy little gift!
