Chocolate Rose Bud Tutorial
To be perfectly honest, we do not do much for Valentines Day in our house. We usually stick to some chocolates, a little gift, and sometimes we go out for dinner. Even though we keep it simple, I really enjoy doing things with my son like helping him pick out and write Valentines for his preschool party. I also love seeing Valentine's Day decorations and making fun crafts or desserts! Chocolate rose buds are one of my favorite little treats to make for Valentine's Day. They are easy to make and come out looking so cute! I used to make them with my students in floral design as it was an easy way to practice working with wire and floral tape, and in the end they had a cute finished product to take home.
Below are the step by step directions with pictures to help you make your own chocolate rose buds. Have fun making them with or for your favorite Valentine!
Materials:
Chocolate Kiss Candies
Red Tissue Paper
Scotch tape
Scissors
Floral wire
Green floral tape
Ribbon (optional)
How to make a chocolate rose bouquet:
Tape the bottom of two chocolate kisses together...
Cut tissue paper into small pieces...
Cut the tissue paper into about 4" x 6" rectangles.
Wrap taped chocolate kisses in tissue paper...
Use two sheets of tissue paper to help hide the candy wrappers.
Wrap as smoothly as possible.
Wire the base of the rose bud...
Wrap wire tightly around tissue paper and leave rest of the wire long to create stem.
Wrap wire tightly in floral tape...
Stretch tape out to make it stick.
Wrap tightly from base of rosebud down the stem, slightly overlapping as you go.
Optional: Tape small artificial leaves on to the rose bud...
Make at least 6 rose buds to create a bouquet...
Tie roses together into a bouquet, curl the stems...
Using a pen wrap the bottom of the stem around it and pull the pen out to leave a curled stem.
Finished bouquet!
Give your chocolate rose bouquet as a gift or just enjoy!
