Easy and Adorable Fall Wreath Tutorial
I've been putting so much time into my garden this summer and fall that I got behind on getting my fall decorations out. Finally, I got decorated this past week and decided I really needed a fall wreath for my house. I wanted something that brought some of the fall color into the entry of my house. Luckily, I actually had a bunch of leftover fall colored flowers from making flower pens a couple of years ago and an extra grapevine wreath, so I quickly got to work making a DIY Fall Wreath.
It was so easy to make this wreath! It probably took me about 20 minutes (and some of that time was taking pictures!). Don't let making a wreath intimidate you, it is really simple and allows you to personalize it to your taste. Plus, you will save a lot of money, I can't believe how expensive it is to buy a nice fall wreath at the store!
Below check out my material list and step by step tutorial to make this easy and adorable fall wreath. If you like the look of my wreath I listed the exact materials and tools I used and put a link to them all at Michael's and Amazon. Hope that helps!
Materials Needed for Fall Wreath...
How to Create Fall Wreath...
Wire greens onto wreath...
To start lay stems of greens about where you would want them to be placed. Trim stems if they are too long. Tuck excess ends of stems into the grapevine. Wrap wire around green and wreath to hold it in place. I typically place a piece of wire towards the top of the greens and another towards the bottom. Make sure you place it underneath some leaves to easily camouflage the wire.
Flip wreath over and twist wire really tightly to hold the greens on to the wreath. Trim excess wire and tuck ends of wire into wreath.
Add filler flowers...
Next, layer in some stems of a small filler flower. Layer them over top of the greens and tuck ends of stem into wreath. Wire tightly on to wreath.
The filler flowers should complement the greens but not block or hide them.
Place Sunflowers and Other Flowers into Center...
Start with the larger flowers (probably the sunflowers) and cut the stems to a few inches long. Carefully push the stems into the wreath so that they are tightly held in the wreath. If your wreath is not holding them tightly add some hot glue or craft glue to the stems to help.
Once the sunflowers are placed on the wreath add the other flowers filling the open area between the sunflowers. Leave a space on the inside edge of the center of the wreath open to add a bow.
Attach a bow...
Create a bow for your wreath using fall colored ribbon. One of these days I will get around to making a tutorial for making a bow, but in the meantime I do have a video tutorial for it in my highlights on Instagram!
Attach bow to the wreath by wrapping the wire around the wreath (hiding it underneath the flowers) and tightly twisting it on.
