Candied Pecans are one of those treats that you can't have just one! They are the perfect combination of sweet, salty and crunchy. I inherited the best recipe for them from my late mother in law. She made them every year at the holidays and then would give them to friends as gifts. I just had to make some this year, and I'm not going to lie they are already almost gone. I guess I'm going to have to make more before Christmas gets here!

I'm so excited to share this recipe. It is so easy and the pecans come out amazing every time! Below check out some tips and information for preparing these simple candied pecans. The printable recipe is at the bottom of the page.

Making Amazing Candied Pecans...

Whip Egg Whites...

Using a whisk, whip the egg whites with water until frothy. It does not take very long at all to complete this step, probably 30 seconds to a minute.

Combining with Cinnamon Sugar...

First toss the pecans in the egg whites. Make sure that all of the pecans are evenly coated.

Next add the cinnamon sugar mixture to the pecans. Stir the pecans really well so that they are thoroughly covered in a heavy layer of the sugar.

Bake on Buttered Pan...

Spread the pecans out on a buttered baking sheet. Bake in a 250 degree oven for 1 hour, stirring them every 15 minutes during that time.

As soon as they come out of the oven I highly recommend scooping them off of the pan and spreading them out on wax paper to cool. The sugar remaining on the pan will harden and you don't want the pecans to all end up stuck to the pan.

Candied Pecans

Pecans with a delicious cinnamon sugar coating

  • 1 lb pecans
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  1. Whip egg white with water until frothy.

  2. Stir pecans into egg whites.

  3. In a separate bowl blend sugar, salt and cinnamon.

  4. Pour sugar mixture onto nuts; stir well.

  5. Place pecans onto buttered pan.

  6. Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour; stirring every 15 minutes.
